multiplayer asteroids
…well there aren’t actually any asteroids but who really cares. This a whole load of fun. If you can get in that is. It took me a few minutes as it seems there are only 6 slots for the whole world!
You’re up against a bunch of Internet strangers, with a few power-ups to help you on your way.

Be brave and have a go at cogames.net where there is also some Tetris-style fun, balls and more space ships.

a true classic
Ahh, those were the days… still in pyjamas in the afternoon, the curtains drawn to keep the reflection off the TV, chairs moved closer for a better view… mother yelling to turn off the computer, open the curtains and get dressed!
And of course getting constantly slaughtered at Decathlon by my brother.
Well, lucky for me Decathlon is missing on this, but I can re-live my other favourite Atari moments with this 30th Anniversary edition 2600 console… though I might have to go to America to get one.

win an iPod
Here at surface tension we have one of the new 4GB iPod Nanos up for grabs.

Entering takes just a couple of minutes.

Pong table
I came across this cool piece of design-meets-technology… a pong table which integrates LEDs and touch sensors. The creation of Moritz Waldermeyer was on display earlier this year at the Rabih Hage gallery in London, along with the roulette table.

tension in the Zoo…
The guys at Zoo magazine took a shine to the surface tension table this week and put a little snippet of information in on us.

You’ll find us infront of the TV (but behind the “50 sexiest celebrity nipple slips”?!?!)

Head to head – Bespoke tables
Another company that turns up in my constant google searches for arcade tables is bespoke tables.
They have created the retro range of arcade tables (aswell as upright cabinets) called ‘Synergy’.
I noticed one of these whilst looking at the boys toys in the basement of Selfridges a little while ago. As soon as I clocked it, one of the store attendants clocked me and immediately started trying to sell it to me! It did look a little out of place amongst the robotic dogs and poker-chip sets, without even so much as a stool to sit on whilst playing it.

Create your own pixel art… from wood
This looks like a neat set to have kicking around in your living room. Each cube has a different tone on each side enabling you to make your own pixel art… without even touching a computer.
There is no indication of when or where these will be available, but I want one!
See it at the woodpixel website.

Rebooted for the 21st century
I woke up early this morning. With my eyes virtually shut, I waded though the same morning routine I have every day. Its all part of waking up. Tea, emails, website statistics, more tea.
We launched the new surface tension site on Monday night and I’ve been watching Google Analytics (Google’s cool stat istic stuff) with my breath held since.
And there she was! Our first proper link (other than the guys here at surface tension hitting the refresh button like it’s a Daley Thompson decathlon!).
The UK based Stuff magazine has slotted a neat little article about us into their Hot Stuff on the website. Check it out here!
According to the article we’ve resurrected a youth-wasting denizen of the coin-op arcade and rebooted it for the 21st century.
Just what we we’re thinking.
