Super Mario Fish Tank Lets Sea Creatures Swim with Goombas

The bar for all aquatic animal enclosures has officially been raised thanks to the Super Mario fish tank. This ingenious fish tank is modeled after a level from the original 8-bit classic. The architect of this tank is currently unknown, but what is known is that the tank weighs in at 55 gallons, and that the structures are made from LEGO. It is unconfirmed whether or not the goombas are real.

The design of the Super Mario fish tank is impeccable, save for the fact that the level that the tank is modeled after isn’t one of the game’s underwater ones. Still, this colorful aquarium is sure to appeal to the fish in tanks more than a simple castle and colored rocks ever would.

Mixtape Coffee Table

Seattle based product designer Jeff Skierka is somewhat obsessed with woodworking, though this is a good thing. Skierka runs Jeff Skierka Designs from his compact workshop, producing functional and innovative objects by hand. One of his prototype products that we love here at surface tension is this Mixtape Table.

The coffee table is a complete 12:1 scaled replica of the cassette tape from yesteryear. Those fortunate enough to remember the humble audio device will no doubt appreciate the attention to detail that has gone into this table. This particular prototype is made from reclaimed maple, walnut, and lucite materials. To top it off, this table is totally reversible, which means it can be flipped over from A side to B side.
