Pacman physics

It’s all about the yellow pill-muncher at the moment it seems!

This is a good bit of fun for half an hour. Have a go at clearing the pacman maze in a way you’d never have imagined.

It’s all about physics. Chomp on a pill and the gravity goes mental.

Fantastic Contraption… get me away from this thing!

This thing has been both driving me mad and keeping me sane for the past couple of days (and counting). As the name would suggest, you have to build a contraption to perform a (relatively) simple task using a handful of different components. Sounds easy huh?

You can also save a link to your solutions and replay them to make yourself feel better during the more difficult later levels… or show them off to your mates after they’ve pulled their hair out.

Here’s my favourite invention

Browser game: Totem destroyer

This one is a great way of spending what should take 15-20 minutes… in your lunch break of course! 25 levels.
You have to destroy the number of blocks displayed in the top right without destroying the little totem fella… reminiscent of the idol Indy exchanges for a bag of sand.

Freeware game pick: Rescue - The Beagles

I see it as part of my job to play games. Today was a good day…
The name says it all really. Guide Edwin or Nicole along a parallax landscape rescuing beagle hounds. You’ll encounter (what look like) astronauts, which can be sorted out by throwing a couple of owls at them collected from nearby trees. There’s some other strange stuff on the ground that’s out to harm you.

What other games let you throw owls…

rescue_the_beagles.jpg

You can hop up or down the 3 scrolling landscapes if a short distance, else pick up ropes or parachutes for the longer stretches.

Space - Throw an Owl
Up/Down - climb/drop
Up Up - Climb up rope
Down Down - Parachute

Drop too high without a chute and you lose a life. Let a beagle slip away and it’s the same punishment.
The music by Rich Vreeland is a nice nod to those 8-bit days…

Game of the week… War Twats

OK OK, I won’t deny the name of this one didn’t influence my decision. War Twats is like Grid Wars on acid. Too much acid. You get about 5 seconds of calm before it all kicks off, another 5 seconds and you’re dead.

My high score? 129.

Game of the week… Killawatt

Carrying on with the uninspiringly-named game-of-the-week, this week brings Killawatt. The concept is simple; stack as many speakers onto the back of the rasta truck as you can within 3 minutes. Though you’re usually done before then as you lose a life when one hits the floor. Break 5 and it’s over. Accompanied by some reggae beats (also downloadable by the way) this viral marketing game is a lot of fun. As long as it’s advertising something good, there’s no problem… right?

Game of the week… ROM CHECK FAIL

From now on, Thursday will see the new Game-of-the-week feature. It might be early, it might be late, or it might miss a week or two. Is anyone reading this anyway…?

tumbleweed.jpg

Ok, so I came across this a few weeks ago via IndieGames.com. ‘ROM CHECK FAIL’ is all about a multi-game gone wrong. Reminiscent, in it’s relentless speed at which you battle through mini-games, of Wario Ware. Clear the screen of baddies to progress.

Oshidama

When you are at work, craving for the tactile gameplay of your wii, this one’s for you. It’s a point-and-push style game with aesthetically-pleasing visuals. It will also save your current achievements until your next installment.

It has a mellow drum & bass / piano synth track playing throughout, which fits in nicely.
